Hunters Hotels Corporate

Marataba

The brief was to have all of the clients’ logo’s unique to each property but marrying in style under the umbrella company, Hunter Hotels. Marataba was a ‘Dr Livingstone’ out of Africa feel where the wildness of Africa in the Waterberg is still as relevant as it was in years gone by. Hand drawn in pen and ink, the logo is classic and elegant with the detailed look and feel of the Hunter Hotel brand yet kept simple enough to be embossed and foiled and work for embroidery on linen and clothing. The font had a journal, hand written script feel. Classic and romantic yet easy to read.

Hunter’s

The original hotel of the brand, this logo was inspired by the two large greyhound sculptures at the entrance. The collars have African and Scottish patterns as a nod to the Scottish ancestry of the Hunter family.  The assegai and spears represent the love of Africa, ever present in the Hunter brand and style. This logo is also graphic enough to work as an emboss, foil or for embroidery on further branding. Again we used a classic, elegant font but more formal and structured for original ‘old lady’.

Tsala

Set on the Hunter estate in the forests on the lip of a gorge, a Mowgliesque scene was created. The brief was to weave an otherworldly atmousphere into the branding to best personify the treetop fantasy lodge with rim flow pools in the air. Hence the winged monkey, a mythological creature one could connect to and apt for a treetop lodge! We used the vervet monkey as it was indigenous to the Plettenberg Bay area and has a very sweet face. The carved plinth he sits on was taken from the huge carved doors used at the entrance to Tsala and further enhances the ancient, other worldly feel. He holds a lit kudu horn torch inspired by the wall sconces in each of the personally decorated rooms. The font had more of a hand tooled look and feel, like it had emerged from the ruins itself.
